The Weather Man

Are all weather men gay? I am starting to think so. I saw Sam Champion three times in one weekend. He was with a very nice looking, beautiful chiseled body, dark skinned gentleman in the Hampton's this weekend. He must have a house there since he is always there even in the winter. I always want to say "hello", but really don't want to invade his privacy.

I am starting to think the prerequisite to being a weather man is to be gay, but a friend once said that they always pick handsome men and most handsome men are gay. Is he right or wrong? I don't know, but I do know they are all gay.

Telling Tales

Last night the weather in NYC sucked, but it didn't stop a few of us from catching a taxi up Madison Ave to the Carlyle hotel for dinner. I always forget I need a dinner jacket in their main dining room, but the maitre d brought me one without even asking me my size, it fit perfectly.

At the table we shared some crazy stories about our industry and helping assist celebrities. We all agreed the two biggest nuts are Jennifer Lopez and the cherry on the top of the cake, Barbara Streisand. The best story was Barbara Streisand screaming at the top of her lungs in a 2 by 4 elevator because her cell phone went dead, hello you are in an elevator.

Snow actually fell last night in the city and it was quite beautiful but then it changed to rain and it just got real messy. Dinner was really good and I didn't think I drank too much last night but this morning I knew I did, hangover big time. Also last night in the bar Bemelmans Rita Moreno was performing, I am that would have been quite interesting. The picture they used to advertise the performance must have been taken 20 years ago. We never attended the show, dinner was enough, and then we all split for home.

The Liberal and the Conservative

Saturday night I was invited to a dinner party in East Hampton, NY at the home of a couple I barely knew. She was a liberal democrat and judge and he was a conservative republican doctor for the defense department. I expected straight couples to be in attendance but was really surprised to find gay couples there. They are very much into the arts, and I should not have been surprised to see that along the way they adopted some gay people as their friends. I prejudged them and that was not very nice on my part.

I wondered how they managed to have a house worth a few million dollars home, and a kitchen that would make Julia Child sit up and take notice. She didn't know how to cook, so many of the guys jumped in and started creating some dishes for the night. It was quite funny explaining to her how her Wolf oven worked. She said "I definitely need to invite you guys to more parties".

I don't know how it happened but we got on the conversation of politics and he said he voted for President Bush in the last two elections for tax reasons. I guess that was a good enough reason for him but it really baffled me since we are at war and there are much large issues than taxes.
Its amazing that two people can coexist today with such different political views but they seemed to do just fine. My boyfriend and I fight over the slightest different political views and we are both liberals, so I cant imagine their situation.

The Devil is Back

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I work at pretty high pressured job at a fashion house. I work for a designer, and create much of their travel for business as well as personal. Sometimes its fun and sometimes its pure hell.

I work in an office with 8 woman and the egos are enormous. Because I am gay I think I dont threaten they in any way, but you dont want to cross them. One girl who always says what she feels usually in the form of a joke, sorta tongue and cheek, really means what she says, and she knows how to stab me in the heart. I usually arrive at 900am and sometimes make it there just before 9am, like 858am. As she left the office tonight she said I will see you at 859am tommorrow!

I retorted "yes and until this company starts paying me prior to getting here before my start time, I will be here at 858a, 859a or even 900am, and you or anyone else should have nothing to say.

Do you believe this girl, is she kidding? Why do people get involved in other peoples lives. My boss who heard everything and was stunned and just chalked it up to another one of her outburst. My tangles with her in the office have been really scary sometimes, and she does not get it.

Honestly I try not to fight with women in the office, the exchange never looks so cool coming from a guy. The problem is that I grew up in Brooklyn, went to all boys school and was taught never to take any shit from anyone. I need to keep this is check. She sure is playing with fire.

Nikki Bacharach

When I arrived home from work my boyfriend told me the sad news of Nikki Bacharach
passing. She was the forty year old daughter of Angie Dickinson and Burt Bacharach who committed suicide in her condo in Thousand Oaks, California.

Nikki has a very strange disease called "Aspergers Syndrome" I think she developed this from being born three months premature. I met Nikki in Bora Bora about eight years ago at a hotel buffet bar, we were both having lunch there. She was only 6 years younger than I but she acted about only eighteen years old. She and her mom were lunching together and I didn't want to invade their privacy. We spoke only briefly and she was really very nice.

It is said that she committed suicide by placing a plastic bag over head. This is very similar to the way the actress Clara Blandick committed suicide. She was the grandmother in the movie "Wizard of Oz".

It also may be true that Albert Einstein has Aspergers Syndrome but he learned to use parts of his brain that compensated for this Syndrome. I feel really terrible for Angie Dickinson because she seemed so devoted to her daughter in the little time I watched her in Tahiti. God bless Nikki and God speed.

Backache

Tonight I was put into one of the MRI machines not by choice but by my doctor who thinks I have 2 herniated disks. My right leg and hip have not been right since I returned from Italy, and I am thinking maybe I traveled with way too much luggage for me carry.
they put you in a tube that uses magnetic imaging and it can get very claustrophobic if they use the closed type of MRI. The sound also was deafening so they gave me ear plugs, it didn't help.
I am trying to be healthy this year and so far I have not smoked since New Years eve, major plus for me since I don't usually go this long without shaking for a smoke. Hopefully all will work out when I get the results.

Weight Loss

With all the new year resolutions people are making, I think mine will be to lose weight. I talked to this couple who lost 100lbs between both of them. The diet program is called "Accu Weight". The program involves using these accu weight balls that are placed behind the ears and rubbed just prior to eating, they create a feeling of fullness or bloating. The diet also involves eating dairy for two days and then veggies for two days and then adding chicken as the program progresses.

It was really difficult watching my diet during the holidays and there is still junk food lingering all over the office. I really need a program since I was told my blood pressure is a little high do to weight gain. I guess it will work since now I am under pressure to lose.
